Genetics Counselor buy in US, Free Classifieds Ads

Provide before and after genetic testing support. Collects appropriate clinical and family information from clients necessary for scheduling of appropriate tests, proper interpretation of test results and preparation of final reports.
Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.
Assures quality customer service to all customers.
Maintains good attendance and punctuality per the absence policy.
Directs the genetic counseling of patients with hemophilia, related bleeding disorders, and hereditary thrombosis at the Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania.
Provides genetic counseling and family planning information for pregnant women of families affected by congenital bleeding or thrombotic disorders.
Elicits and documents family history of bleeding/thrombotic disorders.
Explains diagnostic and screening tests and reproductive options including associated risks, benefits, and limitations.
Obtains appropriate informed consent for genetic testing of patients and families at the Hemophilia Center of Western PA.
Oversees results of testing with families, including informative and non-informative data, and implications for future offspring.
Prepares reports, correspondence, and maintains charts with genetic information. Works with psychosocial staff to assure care and clarity in discussion with families.
Maintains an updated pedigree for each affected patient/family.

Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.
Master's or Ph.D. in Human Genetics or Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Medical Genetics (ABGC) or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) accredited training program is preferred.
If the employee is not yet board certified, he/she must be actively pursuing board certification. The equivalency of the training must adhere to the ABGC guidelines for special consideration status OR three or more years of clinical practice in genetic counseling, fulfillment of training adhering to the ABGC guidelines for special consideration status is required.
Licenses/ Certifications
Seven years relevant experience is required.
One year of clinical experience as a board eligible genetic counselor or genetic counselor intern preferred.
Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to communicate with patients and families about sensitive medical issues.
Microsoft office, Windows XP, Progeny.
